Prime power

A prime power is a positive integer of the form prp^r, where pp is prime and rr is a positive integer. Examples include 22, 33, 4=224=2^2, 55, 8=238=2^3 and 9=329=3^2.

Prime powers occur naturally throughout number theory, including explicit formulas involving the von Mangoldt function.
