Sideband
A sideband is a component that appears at a frequency offset from a central or carrier frequency. The term is common in signal processing, radio, modulation theory and Fourier analysis.
For example, if a carrier frequency is modulated by a slower frequency , frequency components can appear at and . Those neighbouring components are sidebands.
The broader mathematical idea is that symmetric shifts around a central value can reveal how nearby components interact. Riemann Console has used the word in project-specific constructions, but those private definitions and formulas are not reproduced in the public glossary. .
