Volterra identity
A Volterra identity is an integral relation with an ordered or one-sided integration structure. In a typical Volterra equation, the value of an unknown function at one point depends on an integral over an interval whose endpoint involves that point.
Volterra equations and identities occur throughout analysis, differential equations, integral equations and mathematical physics. Their triangular or ordered structure often makes them especially useful for existence arguments, iterative constructions and causal descriptions.
