Boundary effect
A boundary effect is behaviour that appears because a calculation or model is being evaluated at, or very near, the edge of its domain.
Boundary behaviour can differ from what happens in the interior, so an apparent anomaly at an endpoint should often be checked against interior values before being interpreted as a general feature.
